The moment you laid eyes on your baby, you fell completely in love. Those adorable cheeks, those tiny hands and feet—it’s a love deeper than you ever imagined.

You’ll want to hold onto every single moment, cherishing them for a lifetime.

Newborns change so quickly in those first few weeks and months. Before you know it, they’ll be saying their first words and taking their first steps. And you’ll find yourself trying to remember just how tiny their little fingers were or how perfectly they fit against your shoulder.

That’s why a newborn session is the perfect way to capture those fleeting details—preserving the sweetness of this stage before it slips away.

Book Your Newborn Session in Advance

Newborn photography is best done when your baby is between 6-23 days old, a short and precious window to capture their earliest moments. To ensure availability, I highly recommend booking in advance.

Why Book Ahead?

✔ Reduces stress by securing your session before baby arrives

✔ Ensures priority in my busy schedule

✔ Gives you peace of mind knowing your newborn’s first memories will be beautifully preserved

How It Works:

📅 Second Trimester: Start the booking process. I’ll add your due date to my calendar to manage my newborn availability.

🍼 Weekday Mornings: Newborn sessions are scheduled on weekday mornings whenever possible, as weekends book up months in advance.

📌 Scheduling Process: When you book, I’ll reserve your due date in my calendar. Once your baby arrives, we’ll schedule the actual session date.

Retainer & Payment Details:

To hold your due date in my calendar, I require:

✔ Completed paperwork

✔ A 50% retainer (the remaining balance is due on the day of your session)

Tip: Preparing Baby for a Sleepy Newborn Session

Newborns sleep a lot, but their sleep patterns don’t always match up with our plans! If you’re hoping for those dreamy, snuggly, sleepy poses, try keeping your baby awake for a little while before the session.

A bit of awake time beforehand can help them settle into a deeper sleep during the session. That said, every baby is different—some will sleep no matter what, while others stay alert and curious. If your little one is wide-eyed, we can still capture beautiful awake moments, too!

Don’t worry if keeping them awake doesn’t go as planned—I have plenty of tricks and cozy props to help encourage sleep and create a smooth, stress-free session. 💕

Tip: Feeding Your Baby Before the Session

For a smoother, sleepier newborn session, try feeding your baby 20-30 minutes before we begin. Nothing is cuter than a milk-drunk, content little one!

Newborns can take 20-40 minutes to feed, and a full belly helps keep them relaxed and sleepy. If your baby needs to eat during the session, no worries—I always allow time for feeding breaks.

Feeding Tips for a Happy, Sleepy Baby:

Avoid a full meal 1-2 hours before the session. If they seem hungry, offer a small snack instead.

Give a full feeding right before the session for a happy, sleepy baby.

Sessions last 1-3 hours (depending on the package), so there’s plenty of time for feeding breaks if needed.

Formula-feeding? Bring an extra bottle just in case!

A well-fed baby means fewer tears, more sweet sleepy poses, and a more relaxed experience for everyone. 💕

Remember these are just tips, don't worry if your baby prefers to feed. Always feed a hungry baby.

What You Need to Know Before Your Newborn Session

Session Style & Props

Most of my newborn sessions focus on wrapped-only poses, keeping your little one snug and cozy. However, if you have a special prop or item you’d like to include, let me know in advance so we can plan for it!

Baby’s Skin & Preparation

Many newborns experience dry, flaky skin within the first couple of weeks after birth. To keep your baby’s skin soft and smooth, I recommend applying a baby-safe moisturizer the night before or the morning of your session.

Family & Sibling Photos

For family newborn sessions, I always start by photographing siblings with the baby first, followed by family portraits. This helps keep older siblings engaged and prevents them from getting restless. Once we finish, they can relax while we focus on baby’s solo session.

Parents, Be Ready for Photos!

I know you may not feel like a supermodel just yet, but trust me—you’ll cherish these moments forever. These first family portraits are memories you and your child will treasure for years to come.

  • Avoid chunky jewelry and watches, as they can be distracting and may look dated over time.
  • Wear neutral tones like creams, soft hues, and muted colors for a timeless, elegant look.

Choosing Colors & Setups

When it comes to props, wraps, and themes, I recommend browsing my portfolio to see if any colors or styles catch your eye. If you have a specific color scheme or theme in mind, let me know ahead of time! Custom setups take 2-3 weeks to prepare, so advance notice is key.

I can’t wait to create beautiful memories for you and your growing family! 💕

Don’t Forget to Relax – I’ve Got This!

I know how hard it can be to watch someone else tend to your baby’s cries and little grunts—after all, you’ve been their whole world since day one! Rest assured, I will treat and care for your baby as if they were my own. Safety and their comfort are always my top priorities.

During the session, you’re welcome to sit back and relax on the couch or stay close and watch me work—whatever makes you most comfortable. If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Preparing for Fussy Moments

While some babies snooze peacefully through their session, others may need a little extra comfort. To help, I recommend bringing:

✔ A pacifier (even if baby doesn’t usually take one)

✔ A bottle or being ready to breastfeed if needed

✔ A swaddle blanket

Sleep diapers to keep them extra comfy

If baby gets fussy and nothing seems to be working, we’ll simply take a break and try again—there’s no rush!

Years from now, when your little one is taller than you or raiding your closet, these keepsake photos will bring you right back to the days when they fit perfectly in your arms. 💕

If you have any questions about the session, feel free to reach out—I’d love to help guide you through the process!
